What it is
The CRBN 2X is the widebody (square) paddle in the raw-carbon X-series — shorter and wider than the 1X, with an 8" face that maximises the sweet spot. Same unibody construction, foam-injected edge walls and raw T700 carbon surface as its siblings, 16mm.
How it plays
Forgiveness is the pitch. The wide face gives the biggest, most stable hitting zone of the three X-series paddles, which pays off on volleys, blocks and fast hands at the kitchen. You give up the reach and plow-through of the elongated 1X, but you gain a paddle that's much kinder to off-center contact, making it the most approachable CRBN raw-carbon option and a solid choice for players who value control and consistency over raw reach.
The generation question — read this
As with the rest of the X-series, this is CRBN's previous-generation premium, now sitting below the foam TruFoam line. Still a proven, well-built paddle, but the community is candid about the value math on older raw-carbon tech: "It is insane to sell a pickleball paddle at a price of a tennis racquet," and skepticism about CRBN's iterative releases runs high. The counterpoint is that at ~US$170 for a forgiving flagship widebody, the price now reflects the generation.

Bottom line
Recommended as the forgiving, control-leaning CRBN raw-carbon paddle — the pick for players who want a big sweet spot and stable hands over reach. If you want CRBN's current foam feel, the TruFoam Barrage is the step up; if you want more reach, the 3X hybrid.

Power when you need it, but touch and control when you’re looking for that.
Came away impressed with the spin and power. I was mostly able to control my third-shot drops and resets.
