FAQ
Common questions.
What is LCSD and how does it relate to pickleball?
LCSD stands for Leisure and Cultural Services Department — the Hong Kong government body that manages public sports facilities. Some LCSD badminton courts operate under a pickleball trial scheme, making them the only free option in the city. Book via the SmartPLAY app; bring your own portable net.
What's the cheapest way to play pickleball in Hong Kong?
LCSD outdoor badminton courts (Bowen Road, Canton Road, Tuen Mun Park) are free under the trial scheme, bring your own portable net. For indoor, LCSD sports centres bookable on SmartPLAY are HK$57–78/hr. Among commercial venues, Pickle Vibes in Lai Chi Kok runs from HK$100/hr off-peak.
I'm a complete beginner. Where should I start?
Pick a venue with a Beginner-Friendly score of 8+, equipment rental, and a regular intro class. Stackd, Pickle & Club, Bay Pickle Tin Hau, and Asia Aces are the easiest first-time landings, they have paddle rental, intro nights, and indoor AC.
Are there real outdoor pickleball courts in Hong Kong?
GO PARK Sai Sha has the only outdoor courts in HK specifically designed for pickleball. Aberdeen Marina Club has a purpose-built outdoor court (members only). Everything else outdoor is shared LCSD tennis or badminton lines.
Do I need to be a member of a club?
No. Most commercial venues (212HK, Stackd, Bay Pickle, Pickle & Club, etc.) sell drop-in time alongside membership. Members-only venues, Aberdeen Marina Club and Chinese Recreation Club, are labelled in the directory.
