What it is

Gearbox's GBX Quad in 12mm, a thin, power-leaning paddle in Gearbox's distinct quad shape. Solid carbon fiber construction, no honeycomb core, US$130 on Amazon to HK. Pairs with the GBX Quad Mod 14mm for the same shape at a more forgiving thickness.

How it plays

A 12mm paddle in 2026 is a specific choice. It's thin, it's fast, it's stiff. The thin core means more pop on drives but less dwell time on touch shots, soft hands at the kitchen become noticeably harder. Combine that with Gearbox's solid-construction stiffness (no honeycomb compression) and you get a paddle that's unforgiving on off-center contact and harsh on long sessions. The quad shape is the brand's distinctive geometry: a more rectangular face that splits the difference between elongated and widebody.

Community signal is thin. This is a newer SKU without the long track record of the GBX Power or the older CX line. What's clear is that 12mm Gearbox paddles are not beginner-friendly, they reward hand speed and precise contact, and punish anything else.

Who should actually buy this

Intermediate-to-advanced players who already know they like the Gearbox solid-construction feel AND want a thinner, faster paddle for hand battles at the kitchen. That's a narrow target. Most buyers cross-shopping at US$130 are better off with the V-Sol Power (more pop, larger sweet spot) or the V-Sol Pro (better touch, current Gen 4 tech).

Bottom line

Niche power paddle for Gearbox loyalists who want a thinner option in the brand. Not a default recommendation. The 14mm Quad Mod is the more forgiving sibling and a better starting point for anyone curious about the Gearbox feel. Skip the 12mm unless you specifically know you want a faster, thinner, harsher paddle.
