What it is
The Gearbox GX2 Power Hybrid is the widebody-leaning shape of Gearbox's solid-core power line — same SST 2.0 CarbonRibCore and 3K woven raw carbon face as the Elongated, but in a 16.2" × 7.8" hybrid with a slightly shorter head, making it more forgiving and maneuverable. 16mm, 5.5" handle, 8.0 oz, ~US$280.
How it plays
You get the GX2 Power's signature — explosive pop with genuine dwell for spin and touch — in a shape that's kinder to off-center contact than the Elongated. The wider face gives a bigger sweet spot and quicker hands at the net, so it's the GX2 most players should start with. The same two caveats apply: it rewards a brushy, developed swing, and it needs breaking in. One owner noted the face "doesn't feel gritty, but it definitely generates good spin" — the spin comes from the core action as much as the surface.
Build and durability
Same story as the whole GX2 line, which is the best reason to buy one: Gearbox's suspended solid core is the most durable construction in the power category. Heavy hitters who core-crush thermoformed paddles get a paddle that simply lasts.

Bottom line
Recommended, and the GX2 we'd point most players to over the Elongated — the hybrid shape keeps the durability and dwell-y power while adding real forgiveness. Skip it for soft touch or if you won't tolerate a break-in. Want maximum reach and power? The GX2 Power Elongated. Want softer foam power? A CRBN or Vatic foam paddle.
