What it is
The CRBN 1X is the flagship elongated paddle in CRBN's raw-carbon X-series (Power Series). At 16.5" long and 7.5" wide with a raw T700 carbon face, foam-injected walls and a swingweight around 123, it's built for players who attack from deep in the court and want maximum reach and leverage.
How it plays
Power and reach are the story. The elongated shape and higher swingweight let you generate heavy topspin and drive with depth, and the raw carbon bites for spin. The trade-off is demand: the 1X asks for a consistent, developed swing. Off-center hits are punished more than on the forgiving 2X or the balanced 3X, and the swingweight can tire out players who aren't used to it. This is a paddle for the intermediate-plus power player, not a first paddle.
The generation question — read this
Same honest context as the whole X-series: this is CRBN's previous-generation raw-carbon premium, superseded by their foam TruFoam line. It's a proven, still-excellent paddle, but it's not the newest tech, raw carbon grit wears over time, and the community is frank that these paddles are "from a few years ago." The flip side is value — a genuine flagship elongated at ~US$170 is a keen price for what it delivers.
HK reality
SmashPoint lists it in Hong Kong; check current stock and price with the seller. Given the demanding swingweight, the reach suits a narrower group of players. Apply the SmashPoint discount if buying locally.
Bottom line
Recommended for the power-elongated player who wants proven CRBN performance at a previous-gen price. If the swingweight or elongated shape feels like too much, the 3X hybrid is the friendlier all-court pick, and the 2X is the forgiving widebody option.
