What it is

The thinner, poppier sibling of the Magnus Pro IV 16mm. It uses the same Tyson McGuffin elongated, short-handle shape and Charged Carbon surface with an actual 14mm core.

Where the 16mm offers a little more dwell, the 14mm is the faster drive-and-counter version.

How it plays

Power and spin headline the evidence, with control and comfort stepping down from the 16mm version. This is a paddle for players who already have their fundamentals dialed and want pop on tap.

The trade is the sweet spot. At 14mm with an elongated shape, off-center hits are punished harder than with the 16mm version. The power is real, but stopping pop-ups and keeping drives in becomes the user's problem to solve.

Exact-model hands-on coverage now clears the Reviewed gate, although the longer-term owner sample is still smaller than for the 16mm or the Perseus.

Build and specs

Roughly 8.0 oz stock, 4 1/4'' grip, five-inch handle, 14mm Propulsion Core, elongated shape and Charged Carbon Surface 11 face. Surface wear and core consistency remain the main durability questions.

Where it fits

Advanced-leaning intermediate. The pricing (about HK$1,710 before shipping) is firmly second-paddle territory, and the unforgiving sweet spot means sub-3.5 players will struggle to extract the upgrade. The right buyer is someone who already owns a Magnus 16 or a Hyperion and wants more pop without leaving the JOOLA build family.

If raw drive power is the priority, the Perseus is the harder-hitting sibling at similar pricing. If control matters as much as power, the 16mm Magnus is the better balance.

Bottom line

Situational pick with a narrow audience. Buy it if you specifically want a 14mm JOOLA hybrid with more pop than the 16mm and you can handle a smaller sweet spot. Skip it for first or second paddle decisions; the Perseus and the 16mm Magnus are both better-known quantities at this tier.
